Reading of the Minutes – Mimi Plonsky

Robert Dow made a motion to accept the Minutes of the September 18, 2008 Workshop Meeting as corrected. Seconded by Paul Whitney and passed unanimously.

 Treasurer’s Report – Joel Brusso

Joel Brusso read the Treasurer’s Report – Copy attached.

Arthur Beer complimented Joel Brusso and our Bookkeeper for a thorough report, and requested that in the future reports should all be as concise as this one was. In the past when he was asked by residents about certain things, and could not reply as the Treasurer’s reports were not explicit enough; nor did he understand about some transfer of funds. Joel Brusso responded that, indeed, the Treasurer knew the answers to all questions, and he went on to explain the transfer of funds that Arthur Beer alluded to. Arthur Beer made it quite clear that he was not faulting anyone, but that he would like a more detailed report in the future.

Barry Prince responded to Arthur Beer by stating that sometimes in order to expedite matters of purchasing, etc., that transfers had to be made from one account to the other to complete the transaction.

Robert Dow made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Seconded by Paul Whitney and passed unanimously.

Barry Prince then commended Joel Brusso for his excellence pursuant to his position as Treasurer during these particularly stressful times.

 President’s/Management Update

·        Rick Leach read the Management Report – Copy attached.

 ·        One of the highlights of his report was that Papico has been finishing up the Shuffleboard Courts, and they should be playable by the end of October. They were held up quite a bit by the recent rains we have had.

 ·        Barry Prince stated that the Landscape Committee, along with Tru-Green had trimmed quite a few trees, and more would be done in the New Year.

 ·        Barry Prince said that he received a note from Arthur Beer regarding canceling the refreshments after our once a month General Meeting. Arthur Beer felt that due to the money market conditions we could save about 3-4 thousand dollars per year. Barry Prince said that he personally felt it was beneficial to have the coffee clutch after the meetings, as people would sit around and discuss things that they normally would not bring up at the meetings. Barry Prince felt that it was socially nice to get together under informal conditions.

Robert Dow made a motion to continue the refreshments after the General Meetings until further notice. Seconded by Mimi Plonsky.

 ·        Robert Dow said that he too agrees to what Barry Prince had to say. There was some discussion from the Board and the audience. Barry Prince called the previous motion, stating that it could always be considered again, if, after the new Budget warranted the cancellation of the coffee hour for financial reasons.

The above motion was passed by 6 votes in favor of the motion, Arthur Beer and Barbara Flaxman voting in the negative.

 New Business

·        Barry Prince went on to say that we are thinking of switching the Men’s and Ladies Room with each other. They are located in the Fitness area. He said it was something to consider in the future, as it eliminates the need for men to change and cover up to travel from the sauna and bathroom area, and not having to pass through the Fitness exercise area. He went on to say that many more men than ladies use the bathroom and sauna areas.

·        On a serious note, Barry Prince addressed the rumor of $75,000.00 missing from the Treasurer’s Report in August. He explained where the “missing” money, which was not “missing” after all, was.

·        There was considerable discussion from Board Members, as well as the audience, regarding this matter.

Forthcoming Event

 ·        Feige Brody announced that on October 23rd at 3:00 P.M. there will be a representative from the League of Women Voters present; to answer questions we may have regarding current political matters. All are welcome.

Paul Whitney made a motion to adjourn at 11:25 A.M. Seconded by Robert Dow and passed unanimously.

                                                            Respectfully submitted

                                                            Miriam Plonsky

                                                                Secretary
