BANYAN SPRINGS PROPERTY OWNERS’ ASSOCIATION

BOARD OF DIRECTORS WORKSHOP MEETING

THURSDAY, MARCH 25, 2010 --- 10:00 A.M. --- BANYAN ROOM

        Barry Prince opened the meeting at 10:00 A.M.

        Present:           Barry Prince, President

Reading of the Minutes – Mimi Plonsky

        Larry Granet made a motion to accept the Minutes of the February 11, 2010 Workshop Meeting as corrected. Seconded by Paul Whitney and passed unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report – Joel Brusso

        Copy attached.

        Paul Whitney made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Seconded by Feige Brody and passed unanimously.

·        Barry Prince then presented Sheila Goodman, Chairperson of the Decorating Committee, who announced thanks to her Committee persons, Sandy Schneider and Gloria Freidman.

·        Sheila Goodman went on to explain how the Committee arrived at the decision for choosing the tile for the upcoming tile replacement in the Foyer, Hallways and Café. Their choice to be approved by the Board of Directors. Much discussion ensued and questions were answered by Barry Prince and Rick Leach.

·        Harry Sassower asked what future plans were in store for further decorating, i.e. paint, wallpaper, etc.  Barry Prince replied that we have to take one step at a time, and those items will be forthcoming.

·        Harry Sassower made a motion to accept the choice of tile, as presented. Seconded by Larry Granet and passed unanimously.

Manager/President’s Update – Rick Leach gave the Management Update – Copy attached.

New Business

·        Barry Prince called upon Betty Hirschberger, who represented the Art Club in regard to the proposed wall décor for the undecorated wall in the Center. She skillfully presented a photo and explanation of the proposed wall sculpture, which was received by pleasant comments from all present. The wall sculpture will measure 23’ wide and 11’ high, and will be about 3” away from the wall, fastened by brackets. The theme of the sculpture, is our “Famous Bird Tree”, skillfully incorporated into the sculpture.

·        Larry Granet made a motion, with thanks to the Art Club for their donation, to accept the sculpture. Seconded by Harry Sassower and passed unanimously.

Suggestion Box

·        Barry Prince read a request that the trash bins be landscaped where needed by the P.O.A. He responded by stating that those areas are the responsibility of the associations’, and must be taken care of by those associations’.

Architectural Reports

·        Rick Leach reported that patio enclosures had been approved for residences at 10101 Mangrove Drive and 10015 Shadywood Place .

COWBRA

·        Audrey Arian, representative from Banyan Springs, announced that she will accept non-perishable foods for distribution to the needy in behalf of COWBRA.

Audience Participation

·        Marvin Berkowitz, resident, stated that at the last function in the Center, at least 15 residents left before the entertainment was finished to go into the Banyan Room to either save tables or be the first to get refreshments.

·        Lengthy discussions took place with many ideas for keeping residents in the Center until the meeting was over, or not allow them to enter the Banyan Room to save tables or be first at the refreshments.

·        Feige Brody asked if we had a “We Need” list for improvements, and/or decorating. Barry Prince asked that she get together with Harry Sassower and draw up such a list for consideration by the Board in order of their importance.

        Larry Granet made a motion to adjourn at 11:45 A.M. Seconded by Feige Brody and passed unanimously.
