BANYAN SPRINGS PROPERTY OWNERS’ ASSOCIATION

BOARD OF DIRECTORS WORKSHOP MEETING

THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 2010 --- 10:00 A.M. --- BANYAN ROOM

 

        Barry Prince called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M.

 

        Present:           Barry Prince, President

                                Robert Dow, Vice President

                                Miriam Plonsky, Secretary

                                Joel Brusso, Treasurer

                                Feige Brody, Director

                                Larry Granet, Director

                                Harry Sassower, Director

                                Rick Leach represented Management

 

Reading of the Minutes

 

        Paul Whitney read the Secretary’s Report. Joel Brusso made a motion to accept the Minutes of the November 19, 2009 Workshop Meeting as corrected. Seconded by Paul Whitney and passed unanimously.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Joel Brusso

 

        Copy attached.

 

        Larry Granet made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Seconded by Paul Whitney and passed unanimously.

 

Management/President’s Update – Rick Leach gave the Management Report, copy attached.

 

·        Rick Leach asked that those who will not attend the Annual meeting on January 20, 2010 , please sign and send in their proxies so that we may meet the quorum required to vote on the Election of Members of the P.O.A. Board.

 

·        Rick Leach also announced that testing for those who are interested in conducting the census attend the meeting on the on January 15th 2010 , next day, to apply. So far, only two applicants will be present.

 

·        A resident asked why we needed a meeting at 9:00 A.M. the morning of the elections. Rick Leach explained that the 9:00 A.M. meeting opens the Annual Meeting.

 

·        Rick Leach also informed us that Sunstate Cleaning System, whose bid was quite a bit lower than 3 other companies, will be cleaning various sidewalks in the community, where needed, at a cost of $4,200.00.

 

·        Robert Dow made a motion to accept the bid from Sunstate Cleaning System for cleaning of the sidewalks in the amount of $4,200.00. Seconded by Paul Whitney.

 

Larry Granet questioned the process of cleaning and felt the sidewalks should be pressure treated, which Rick Leach replied to, by advising us the cost would be three times the amount quoted by Sunstate.

 

    The motion was brought to a vote and was passed 7 to 2, Larry     

    Granet and Joel Brusso voting against the motion.

 

·        Barry Prince then discussed the proposed change of the P.O.A. Documents allowing the Board of Directors to be voted upon to serve a three year term, as versus the two year term that is current. A copy of the Proposed By-Law will be distributed, and Barry Prince urged all residents to vote upon the Amendment to the Documents.

 

·        Larry Granet suggested that a copy of the Proposed Amendment be handed out to residents, only, for their review.

 

·        Rick Leach announced that the City of Boynton Beach Raw Water Main – Section A, desires that we grant an easement on the corner of Military Trail and Boynton Beach Boulevard . After some discussion it was decided to table this request, and Barry Prince suggested that Robert Dow look into the possibility of our being remunerated for the granting of the easement.

Architectural Requests

 

        10057 Hickorywood Place – Install Gutters – Approved.

 

From the Audience

 

·        Cindy Clay asked if we could consider covers for the whirlpools.

·        Larry Granet raised some questions about the kind of cleaning that had been proposed.

·        Feige Brody asked if the grass would be damaged by the process, Rick Leach replied in the negative.

 

        Larry Granet made a motion to adjourn at 10:55 A.M. Seconded by Paul Whitney and passed unanimously.
