Welcome Back Congratulations to our new members, Joel Brusso, Karl Ginsberg, and Phil Daniels on joining our prestigious club; enjoy the golf and the camaraderie. October was a busy month for your Board of Directors. Our welcome back buffet at the Broken Sound Country Club had to be cancelled for numerous financial reasons. Some of their extra charges were beyond belief, but never fear, we have not let you down. Instead, we have made arrangements at the Le Pavillon a lovely restaurant in Delray Beach. There we will be served a full course luncheon (with a variety of main courses), dessert and beverage. Do not eat a big breakfast. Thanks, Ron Frohman. Another surprise: we will have a great guest speaker. Rick Durham, PGA golf professional for 36 years, will bring his stories and expertise to our affair. Rick was head pro at Cypress Creek for 28 years and is now the head pro at West Palm Beach, a great course (no water). Have some interesting questions ready. For the first time, we are sponsoring a golf outing on Sunday, March 2nd to benefit the Papanicolaou Corps for Cancer Research. $50 per person will get you 18 holes of golf at the Kings Point Executive Course, lunch at Duffy’s, contests and prizes and a donation to help cancer research. Deposit your checks made payable to the BS Golf Club in the Golf Club mailbox. Sign up as a foursome for the 7:30 AM shotgun start. For the non-golfer, $18 will buy your lunch. Come out and support cancer research. For additional information, call Gene at 364-0725. December is a big month. It’s election time again and we’re always looking for new people with new ideas to stimulate our club. Volunteer! It is dues time again; please deposit your $100 checks in the Golf Club mailbox. Remember, your dues subsidize all club luncheons and affairs.
GOLF
TIP OF THE MONTH Want to improve your scoring? Throw away your eraser and concentrate on your short game. 70 percent of your shots are from closer than100 yards. Chipping and putting will save you more strokes than producing an occasional long drive.
